Happiness of the Fish

This is a print that I made of a lotus with many happy fish.  The painting is first made on newsprint using food-safe underglazes.  When that painting dries, I apply a coat of wet slip to the back of the painting and then transfer it onto the clay.  I then carve the piece and fire it in the bisque kiln.  After this firing, I apply a color wash to the entire piece to both fill in the carved areas and to give the entire piece an antique feeling.  This decorative tile has a hook for hanging and four small felt circles placed to protect your wall from scratches.
